Right place, right time – Adelaide roller shutters

We just had a lovely testimonial come in from Bev in Brooklyn Park:

“The cord on my roller shutter snapped on the weekend so how surprised was I on phoning this morning and they just happened to have someone in the area! So, from my phone call to the repair being done – so quick, easy and very professional and helpful.

Thanks so much. Will have no hesitation in recommending you services.”

Thanks for your feedback Bev; we can’t always turn jobs around so quickly but on this occasion we were in the next suburb over and running ahead of time – our tech Ashley was happy to fit your repair job in.  Looking for a new roller shutter in Adelaide, or a repair?  Call us on 84473443.

Add a motor to an existing roller shutter

Do you have manual wind-up or pull-cord roller shutters?  Did you know that you can upgrade your roller shutters to be operated automatically?  Most roller shutters can be motorised – the manual controls are removed (such as the strap and winderbox) and are replaced with either a switch (like a light switch on the wall) or remote control unit.  The advantages of motorising roller shutters include convenience, greater security, and less stress and strain on both you and your shutter!

When upgrading to a remote control option, you’re able to program multiple roller shutters onto a single remote; imagine the convenience of opening all your shutters with the press of one button!  You can also customise your settings; for example, have all living area shutters assigned to one channel on the remote control, while bedrooms can be assigned to other channels for individual operation.  Some remote controls also allow you to set regular times for opening and closing the shutters, so you don’t even need to press a button at all.

We can motorise one roller shutter, or motorise a whole house of roller shutters.  Call us on 84473443 to discuss your needs and the motorisation options available.

Making a roller shutter appointment

As a small family business, we’re keenly aware of how precious every minute of the day can be!  To help our customers make the most efficient use of their day, we offer a 2 hour booking window for roller shutter repair appointments.  For example, we may visit onsite between 8am-10am, with the technician arriving during that 2 hour window.  This allows customers to better plan their day, while also giving us enough flexibility to ensure we are able to meet that timeframe, even when a job proves more difficult than expected, or way briefer than expected.

We believe a 2 hour timeframe provides a better outcome for both our technicians, who don’t have to rush under pressure, and our customers, who don’t have to set aside a whole day or commit to long windows like 12-5pm.

We may also be able to assist with exact time appointments (e.g. 8am sharp) where required for businesses or people whose schedules just can’t allow even a 2 hour window.

Need your roller shutter fixed without throwing away your schedule?  Call us on 8447 3443.

TRSRC – Helping babies sleep!

We recently got some feedback which has turned out to be one of my favourite testimonials of all time: a Mum thanking us for helping her baby off to the land of nod!

We recently installed a roller shutter to the nursery window for new Mum Janelle, and she has been very happy with the near-total darkness the shutter provides, even at 1pm in the afternoon.

She texted us her delight, as well as a snapchat image she’d sent to a friend:

I was putting the baby down for her nap and trying to reply to a friend with a funny faced snap chat when i realised its too dark to do so 👌

Thanks for the feedback – we love to hear how our shutters are making people’s lives better (and it doesn’t get much better than helping newborns sleep)!

If you have a bub or are expecting and like the idea of the quiet and darkness a shutter can provide for naptimes, call us on 84473443 for a free quote on a new roller shutter today.

Close the window before closing the roller shutter.

It’s officially a trend; this week we’ve been called every single day of the week to fix a roller shutter that has been closed onto an open window!

Homeowners with awning windows (windows that open outward, as opposed to sliding open) run the risk of damaging their motorised roller shutters by accidentally leaving an awning window too far open and then trying to close the shutter.  The open window will obstruct the roller shutter and prevent it from closing. If this happens, stop the shutter motor as soon as possible – more damage is done the longer the motor is left running.  Same if the shutter is closed onto any other obstruction, e.g. a broom handle.

Once the obstruction is removed, be wary as the curtain may fall down at high speed.  If there are any funny noises or the shutter refuses to open/move afterward, it’s time to give us a call on 8447 3443 for advice or a free quote to repair.

Helpful tips for homeowners with awning windows and roller shutters:

  • leave the windows open through the summer months (winter too if you’re brave!) to just short of where the roller shutter passes down. This gives you the benefit of air circulation without having to judge the distance every day.
  • if you have a remote control for your shutter and you’ve opened the awning window right out, remove the remote control from its cradle and place the remote near the open window.  Then when it’s time to close the roller shutter – you’ll have to find the remote by the window before you can close the shutter, jogging your memory that the window is open and needs to be closed!
