Hot enough for you Adelaide?

Hot enough for you Adelaide?

Hot enough for you Adelaide?

Now that we’re finally back down in the lower 40’s, I can risk firing up my computer for a few hours without it melting…!  Just an update to say a belated Happy New Year, and for those of you who made new year’s resolutions to survive consecutive hot days, including one day as the hottest city in the world….well done, you’ve made it!

Kudos to our boys who have been working in this heat to keep people’s roller shutters working – special mention to Jack who has been out nearly every day in this heat helping Adelaideans keep cool.

Positive customer feedback about a roller shutter repair

We’ve just received a lovely letter of thanks from a customer!  In an earlier blog I made a resolution to share our positive feedback here – while it’s hard to note the feedback we get over the phone and in person from customers, I can definitely upload the letters we receive.  Here is a copy of the letter, which I’ve also written alongside for ease of reading (I’m yet to master the art of scanning documents).

2013.10 TRSRC Customer Feedback 1

Feedback letter from customer Eileen

To Belinda and Jack,

I would just like to say a great BIG thank you for the wonderful work Jack has done for me.  He has repaired 4 roller blinds for me and I was highly satisfied with his work.

He is a very kind and thoughtful person and I know he will always do his very best.  I will certainly recommend him to all my family and friends.  I also wish Belinda and Jack great success in their new business.

Regards, Eileen.

(Please note we respect our customer’s privacy and so have obscured our customer’s surname and address and have obtained permission to reproduce her kind letter).

Shiny New Shutters

Now that we’re online, we’ve decided to take photos of the roller shutters we repair and install to show off our work!  At the end of September we had a job in Darlington to repair some older shutters, and install new shutters to replace some really ancient shutters.

Two of the new roller shutters Jack installed.  As we’re installing brand new shutters with a mix of older roller shutters, it’s important to keep a uniform look to the whole house, so we matched the colours as closely as we could, as well as matching the style of slat, pelmet and guides.  There’s a lot more to roller shutters than just picking the right colour!  There’s also more to installation than just slapping the shutter on the wall – note the flat roof, which can present quite a challenge to installers depending on the roofing materials used.

Whilst the colours of the old and new aren’t exactly the same, we were able to advise the owner of the colour details of the South Australian made roller shutters we use so they can match the colour later by painting the guides and pelmet.  Note that slats can’t be painted – but you can replace the ‘curtain’ of the roller shutter to ensure a totally even result.  This is a much more economical option than just installing a whole new roller shutter, especially where the existing shutter is in fair condition.

There are a whole lot of options to explore when installing roller shutters, and today more than ever roller shutters can be a valuable aesthetic asset and improve the value of a home.

Roller Shutter Repairs…or not!

When we’re out fixing roller shutters, we get to meet some great people – and see some not-so-great roller shutter work!  We were out today fixing two roller shutters south of Adelaide and came across this strap that had been previously ‘repaired’:

A previous "repair"

A previous “repair”

So we thought we’d take a photo to show what our repairs DON’T look like.  Needless to say, we replaced the entire length of strap for the customer and this went into the bin.

We unfortunately see a lot of questionable work done on roller shutters in Adelaide.  Your roller shutters are a valuable investment;  ensure that you’re dealing with a reputable company who guarantee their work when getting any repair work done.
